Maria Somarriba is the President and Principal Broker of Magellan International Mortgage. Since its establishment in 1998, Magellan was founded to cater to the mortgage needs of both the local and foreign markets for individuals purchasing real estate in Florida. Throughout her career, Maria has solidified her success as a knowledgeable and dependable advisor in her field, establishing a commendable track record of closings. With over 3600 clients served, her success is underscored by a history of prosperous transactions, endorsing her reputation as a reliable source of mortgage financing in Florida.

 Maria entered the real estate market at the age of 18, working in real estate development with Interdevco Properties, which constructed over 5000 properties in Dade and Broward counties. As a sales director, she played a pivotal role in both the marketing and sales of homes. Subsequently, she joined Barnett Bank’s residential lending department, where she expanded her understanding of the mortgage market. After five years, she transitioned to Fortune International Realty, a highly successful real estate brokerage boasting over 500 real estate agents, to establish their in-house mortgage company. This experience equipped Maria with the knowledge needed to comprehend the real estate agent's role and how to effectively serve them and their clients. Maria holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from Florida International University.

Originally hailing from Nicaragua, she has called Miami home for over 40 years, witnessing its transformation into a global city. Maria expresses her sense of belonging to the city, stating, "I have seen Miami develop into a global city, and I feel I have played a small part in it." Between real estate closings in the early stages of her career and her involvement in mortgage financing, Maria has contributed to over two billion dollars in real estate transactions in this beautiful city. She eagerly looks forward to continuing her contributions for many years to come.
